The Hauraki Opportunity is the flagship project of Te Ara Poutama, designed to deliver in co-construction with the people of Hauraki a repeatable Wellbeing Measurement and Management System that measures what matters to them, so that their needs, aspirations, and priorities can be further understood and evidenced, and so that – aligned to the intentions of Te Ara Poutama - important choices regarding the present and future wellbeing of the region can be made wisely.
Completing the Community Survey
The community survey is now open! You can access the survey by scaning on the QR code on this page. The survey is for anybody who lives, has whakapapa, or has any social or cultural connection to the rohe of the Hauraki Opportunity (refer map below).
The survey will remain open from mid October until the end of February 2025. This extended timeframe will ensure that as many people, from as many diverse backgrounds, locations and perspectives as possible can complete the survey. We are especially aware that there is a high influx of holiday home owners and visitors over the summer and we want to make sure their voices are captured. Results will be delivered across the collective, and across subgroups where the data provides findings, in May 2025.
Ongoing engagement with community
Iwi engagement, including direct Marae mail-outs, continue to ensure everyone has been invited to be a part of the Hauraki Opportunity. In parallel, communication assets have been shared with project partners ahead of the survey release, which project partners can then adjust to best engage their respective communities.
Data Sovereignty
The second Governance Group meeting was held on the 23rd of September, continuing to discuss the draft Terms of Reference and options for consideration as to how the Group secures data as sovereign taonga. The Te Tara o te Whai Alliance Group is now determining the best way forward for a practical approach to the Governance Group, before the draft Terms of Reference is finalised in meetings 3 and 4 held in March and May 2025.
